The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. her latest blog has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. good robot vacuum can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
